Description: This lesson introduces students to the basic notions of mass media developments and their impact on society.
Materials: PowerPoint slide shows, a gif and worksheets.
Procedure:
Activity 1: Students are introduced to terms and notions through the first slide show. Notions are given in brief. Photocopies of the relevant vocabulary have been provided as homework assignment- students are expected to have studied the vocabulary prior to the presentation. (time: 17m)
Objectives:
- Learning to relate in order to link and compare ideas and concepts, social trends and basic media developments. Enhancing thinking skills.
- Acquainting students with media terminology.
- To help students’ compare different media such as the internet, the radio, the TV and magazines.
- To help students’ be aware of media habits.
- To help students talk about social networking websites.
- To help them understand the positive and negative aspects of internet use.
